I was quite surprised to see that collecting someone's passwords is as easy as ... installing chrome on their computer.

The procedure is quite simple : install chrome, and import firefox settings, including passwords; done.

Chrome will display them to anyone in plain text, wether or not they were protected by a master password inside firefox.

The mozilla foundation did a good job at masking passwords, making them difficult to retrieve, even if you get your hands on the profile files ; unless you have the master password, you're out of luck and will have to go for the geek way, which few people can actually do. Google destroyed all this nice security with chrome.

I believe it should be dealt with inside the firefox software; This is yet another example of how Google is clearly posing a threat to people's privacy and could turn some people's life into a nightmare. Not talking about intentional data gathering.

I am slowly joining the ranks of the google watch growing community...

Never save your password on computer.. It will be easier for hacker to get the password.
a friend of mine show how easy for him to get any password saved on a computer just by plugin his thumb drive to a pc and the software will automatically discover every password.
